We stock a range of different types of herbicides so that we can provide you with the diversity to help you manage unwanted weed growth. Herbicides aka “Weed Killers” have several classifications, depending on the selectivity, timing and method of application (soil/foilar), herbicide group and chemical family.
- Pre-Emergent Herbicides: Usually applied before or immediately after the sowing season, before the weeds emerge. These herbicides prevent the seedlings from germinating and growing.
- Post-Emergent Herbicides: This classification of weed killer is used once the initial season has begun and your crop begins to grow.
- Selective herbicides: Targets specific weeds, without harming the growth of your crop/other plants.Oxyflurofen is one example of a selective herbicide that we supply.
- Non-selective herbicides: These herbicides are not selective about what species of plant it will target. They will kill all plants that it comes into contact with. One of the most popular non-selective herbicide that we stock is Glyphosate.
It is extremely important to read and adhere to the information on the herbicide label. By law, herbicides can only be used in accordance to the label. According to the Department of the Environment, the important label items to read include signal heading (indicating the product's hazard level), trade name, claims for use, active constituent, net content, directions and limitations, withholding period, storage instructions, safety directions and first aid, dangerous goods notification, expiry date, type of herbicide & any other important notes.
